"Women Like Art" Hosted By Catt Sadler WLU-Hollywood

E! News Host Catt Sadler, Women Like Us Hollywood and TiroVino Wine Bar Partake in “Women Like Art!” Exhibit

Los Angeles Powerhouses Unite to Uplift LAUSD Students

Proceeds to benefit Castro Middle School mentorship program; a public middle school in  the Los Angeles School District

LOS ANGELES (July 18, 2011) – On July 26, 2011 TiroVino Wine Bar is opening their doors to their charity of choice; Women Like Us Hollywood in efforts to raise awareness and capital for the WLUH  LA based mentorship program. Los Angeles artist and owner of Associated Clothing, Joel Raul partnered with coordinater Jenna Alegarbes and commissioned local, talented virtuoso’s to depict paintings of their interpretation of a question they posed. For the woman they asked, “Who are you as an empowered woman?” and for the men they asked, “What do you see as a powerful woman?” The “Women Like Art!” exhibit will feature many art mediums, such as, mixed art, charcoal, and acrylics with a wide variety of creative depictions on the said theme. Every artist will be donating 50%-100% of the proceeds to WLUH. On top of the art exhibit donations, TiroVino Wine Bar representative, Maurizio La Rosa, has agreed to donate 20% of the event’s bar tab to WLUH.

Founder and Co-President of Women Like Us Hollywood, Catt Sadler, will be hosting the event with the dynamic WLUH board members who are powerhouses in their own right. The event is an open invitation for Angelino’s to relax with friends after a long day of work. WLUH host monthly, premiere bar mixers as a light-hearted medium for Angelino’s to find out how they can make a difference. Quite simply,  by showing up and buying a Signature WLU Cocktail Angelino’s CAN “Encourage. Empower. Engage”.

Los Angeles has been busy arresting artists

It has been a busy week for Los Angeles P.D, Since the opening of Art In The Streets over at MOCA (which we will have a review and pics up soon). Two artist have been arrested. Space Invader and Revok.

Apparently Revok was in LAX trying to board a plane on his way to Ireland and was arrested by Police on an outstanding warrant. The warrant had been issued for "failing to pay restitution to victims of previous vandalism crimes," said the paper. Revok is currently being held in the Los Angeles County Jail in lieu of $320,000 bail.

#FREEREVOK

and then officials at LAPD issued a statement on Wednesday that officers arrested a French nationalist believed to be one of the two artists known as Space Invaders. The arrest came last Friday, around the debut of MOCA's Art In The Streets exhibition, when patrolmen detained 2 suspects, one to be a French national, with buckets filled with grout and tile pieces. While Space Invaders have yet to confirm the arrests. The artists’ website updated its portfolio section with “Map of Blue Invasion”, 18 Space Invaders artworks located in and around the Geffen Contemporary at MOCA.

So all in all, Congratulations Los Angeles on a job well done... arresting artist. Art is Los Angeles, and Los Angeles is Art. It is in all of us and we will not stop.
